Hiring mistakes to avoidFor companies
| Mistake | What happens | How to avoid it |
|---|---|---|
| Hiring a pure coder for a leadership role | No processes, slow delivery and missed priorities | Check real experience hiring and running teams and roadmaps |
| No high-load experience | Outages exactly when marketing spend is highest | Ask for concrete incidents handled and uptime achieved |
| Hiring a full-time CTO too early | Expensive role with little to do while you run on a partner platform | Start with a fractional CTO or technical consultant |
Advice for candidatesFor candidates
Show impact, not only technologies: traffic handled, uptime achieved, teams built and what changed because of you. Be ready to walk through one architecture decision and one incident in detail.
